We are pleased to announce that one of PWC’s employees recently received the prestigious “E-Chievement Award.” His interview aired on Sunday, November 7 at 5 p.m. on WNKU-FM (89.7).

Listen To Stefan's Interview.

Who Is Stefan Olson?

Stefan Olson is a grant writer with People Working Cooperatively (PWC), a 35 year-old non-profit organization in Cincinnati, Ohio that provides assistance to low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky and southeast Indiana. PWC helps these homeowners with critical home repairs, modifications and services they need to stay safely in their homes.

Twenty-eight years ago, Stefan saw a need to help PWC’s clients with tasks that many people take for granted. As a result, two annual events were created that bring members of the community together to help their elderly neighbors in need: Repair Affair and, subsequently, Prepare Affair. In total, these events have brought together over 52,000 volunteers who have volunteered over 310,000 hours. As a result, 17,000 low-income, at-risk homeowners in Cincinnati have been provided with repairs and tasks critical to keeping their homes safe and habitable. These two programs – combined with what PWC does year round – are helping homeowners stay in their homes, where they want to be, and it is helping neighborhoods stay intact.

What Is Repair Affair? What Is Prepare Affair?

Repair Affair and Prepare Affair are established volunteer programs that grew out of what PWC does year-round. PWC’s goal is to help the homeowners stay safely in their homes, where they want to be.

Since it began 28 years ago, Repair Affair has helped nearly 2,000 households, and over 23 years, Prepare Affair has helped over 15,000 low income elderly or disabled neighbors in Cincinnati.

In total, Repair Affair has brought together over 14,000 volunteers who have contributed over 83,000 hours of service while Prepare Affair has brought together nearly 38,000 volunteers who provided over 227,000 service hours.

PWC estimates the value of the time and effort that these volunteers have contributed to be worth over $3,800,000.
